Whether I’m planning a weekend camping trip or a longer overseas adventure, or just keen to spend a few hours browsing travel photos and reading about butane cooking stoves, there are a handful of blogs that feed my wunderlust and get that inspo flowing.
Fresh Off The Grid | American outdoorsy-types Megan and Michael packed up their lives and hit the road a few years ago, and have been blogging about it ever since. They focus is on food and camp cooking, with loads of brilliant recipes (hello Campfire Nachos), as well as photo diary-style posts on their epic adventures across the USA.
Clever Hiker | This is my go-to resource for all things travel purchase-related. Whether it’s in-depth comparisons of ultralight tents, or reviews of the best travel backpacks, Dave has tried, tested, and written about all the best gear. He also posts about his own travels, from camping across the USA’s Pacific Northwest, to trekking in Nepal.
Sarah Wilson | While Sarah’s blog largely covers her battles with autoimmune disease and anxiety, it also has a series of neat travel posts that cover her many local and overseas adventures, with a particular focus on eating well and staying sane while on the road. Her post on the magic of micro-adventures is particularly weekend-inspiring.
The Outbound | A motley crew of half-a-dozen hikers, surfers, and climbers contribute their travel stories, tips, and amazing photographs on this super comprehensive blog. As well as the usual in-depth gear and itinerary stuff, the team love a bit of mindfulness and have some excellent posts on keeping the brain and body in tip-top shape while travelling.
Un-Fancy | Caroline’s blog is all about sartorial minimalism, so it’s no surprise that she’s a bit of an expert on simple travel style. She provides inspo on how to travel comfortably and stylishly by working with pieces you already own (rather than heading out to buy a whole new travel wardrobe), and is the queen of efficient carry-on packing.
