Rogue’s Pink Spruce Gin

Drinking & Dining

I first came across Rogue Ales & Spirits in the US in 2012, sampling many of their interesting craft beers up and down the west coast and also taking their Pink Spruce Gin for a spin. I’m not usually one for flavoured spirits, but this is a real gem. The gin is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, giving it a lovely blush of colour and hints of vanilla and oak flavours. The flavours are further inspired by the local area’s forests and farms – think spruce, juniper, ginger, cucumber, tangerine, angelica root, and coriander. It lends itself very well to enjoying neat over ice, or with chilled tonic water and a dash of pomegranate juice. Throw in a balmy summer’s evening and a cheese plate for the trifecta!

Rogue’s spirits are a little hard to come by in Sydney, but a handful of boutique liquor stores carry them alongside their range of delicious craft beers (hola Camperdown Cellars, 141 Parramatta Road).
